Training & lessons

Horsemanship lessons with Andy, calm practical training that makes sense to horses.

Suitable for all levels, especially beginners, nervous riders, and anyone who wants clearer communication and calmer progress. Andy is particularly strong on horse psychology, understanding what’s really happening and building a plan that improves things quickly and fairly.

What we can work on

Lessons are tailored to you and your horse. We typically focus on three core areas that create confident riders and relaxed horses.

Confidence

Rebuild trust and calmness step by step, for nervous riders, spooky horses, or anyone who wants to feel safe and in control again.

Problem solving

Practical help for real life issues, behaviour, anxiety, resistance, and “stuck” moments, with a plan you can repeat confidently at home.

Groundwork & ridden

Improve clarity, softness, and balance, on the ground and in the saddle, blending horsemanship principles with thoughtful classical foundations.

How lessons work

No judgement, no overwhelm, just a clear plan that helps you understand what’s happening and what to do next.

What to expect

We start by looking at your goals and what’s currently getting in the way. Andy explains the “why” behind your horse’s behaviour, then breaks the work into simple steps you can repeat confidently.

  • Clear assessment of horse and rider
  • Simple exercises that build calm and control
  • Practical “homework” so progress continues between sessions
  • Supportive coaching, ideal for beginners and nervous riders

About Andy

A lifelong horseman and teacher focused on happy horses and confident humans, with an approach that’s both kind and clear.

Andy’s lifelong love for horses began in Norwich, where he first learned to ride at a local stables. While his teenage years saw him stepping away from riding to focus on music lessons, his passion for horses reignited in his 20s when he got his first horse.

A challenging fall briefly shattered Andy’s confidence, but it also opened the door to Natural Horsemanship. Over the years, he dedicated himself to studying these principles, blending them with Classical Dressage to create a practical, horse first approach.

Andy has helped countless riders regain confidence, overcome challenges, and develop deeper connections with their horses. He’s now a Trainee Teacher of the École de Légèreté, continuing to develop his teaching with a focus on lightness, clarity, and harmony.
